Elaine J. Puglisi, 84, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016, in Brownsville, Texas.
Elaine is survived by her beloved son Michael and was predeceased by the love of her life through sixty years of marriage, her Husband Frank and by her loving Daughter Mary. Elaine is also survived by her loving Daughter In Law Catherine, Grand Daughters Julia and Mary Catherine, Niece Melanie and Friend and devoted caretaker Maria.
From her birth in Key West, FL through the many different states and cities traveled in loving and devoted support of her husband's Frank career trek, Elaine grew from a young and beautiful Tampa Beauty Queen to a loving, devoted and supportive Wife and Mother. Elaine defined and cherished the role of a true homemaker but was also considered as an equal partner to the many successes of her husband Frank through the many decades of his career. In that role Elaine served very much as the "First Lady" and whether that was as the finest cook of home prepared meals to dazzle the visiting bosses and dignitaries that she welcomed into her home with style and grace, or as a beautiful, fun and vivacious surrogate with the press or dignitaries when her husband Frank was unavailable or lastly just as an event stealing presence and highlight to any occasion where she accompanied Frank.
It was Elaine's role as a Mother and homemaker however that was her true love and passion as no event or occasion could keep her away from anything that involved her children. Elaine was always in the seats for every athletic event or other performance even when she knew that her child would not be participating. Elaine's comment was always the same: "If my son is willing to go to the game and sit on the bench then I will do the same with him." Whenever volunteers were needed, whether that be to drive kids to out of town events or run fund raising committees or host and teach religious classes, Elaine was always a participant. As a cook, Elaine's culinary artistry was known to all who ever had the great fortune to sit at her table and enjoy one of her meals but it was her family who most benefitted from a lifetime of daily meals and Sunday dinners.
But what most epitomized Elaine as a Mother was that she was always, and never stopped being, devoted to her children and remained a constant source of unconditional love, unwavering support, sage advice and unrelenting Motherly worry right through her last days. And it is in that role that she will be forever and lovingly remembered and so sadly, sadly missed.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 with the recitation of the holy rosary at Trevino Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Cemetery in New Orleans at a later date.
