Edmond Eli Dumas Sr., 75, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in the embrace of his wife of fifty four years and his family. He was a loyal husband, hard-working father, and true patriot.
Edmond was born on May 2, 1940 to Rosalie and Eli Arthur Dumas of Worcester, Massachusetts. He was the youngest of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Arthur, Alfred, and Louis, as well as his sisters, Teresa and Rita. He leaves behind two loving sisters, Elinor and Rosalie Dumas, both of Brownsville, Texas.
At eighteen, Edmond proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, an enlistment which culminated with an honorable discharge in 1962. Although he served many posts, the last, Wheelus Air Base in Tripoli, Libya, changed his life. It was in the Italian colony of Tripoli, Libya that Edmond met and later married the love of his life, Domenica Angilella.
The couple settled in Worcester, Massachusetts where they began to grow their family which consists of Angelica Dumas Johnson (Paul Johnson) of Brownsville, Edmond Eli Dumas Jr.(Rachele Orsi) of Dallas, and Antoinette Dumas Douglas also of Brownsville.
In 1972, Edmond moved his small family to none other than Brownsville, Texas. Serendipity provided numerous opportunities for employment in the ship-building and manufacturing industries as well as a natural haven for hunting & fishing, his second love.
Edmond leaves behind six precious grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Michael, Joshua, and Seth Johnson; and Ian, Fiona, and Cullen Douglas.
He will be missed.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
An Inurnment will be at a later date in Massachusetts.
