Dora Elia Rivera, born on December 9, 1935, in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, in Brownsville, Texas. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, cherished by her family.
Dora is survived by her 10 children: Maria Garza, Rosa Zuniga, Sylvia Murillo, Dora Moya, Francisco Rivera Jr., Gilda Velma Murillo, Mario Rivera, Juan Rivera, Rolando Rivera, and Celeste Rivera. Her legacy continues through her 27 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren, who will remember her fondly.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Rivera.
She held a deep love for the color lilac and spent many joyful hours gardening, where her passion for life flourished.
The visitation services will be held at Trevino Funeral Home, 1355 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 7:00 PM. Final visitation will occur on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 8:15 AM to 1:30 PM, followed by Mass at Our Holy Family Church in Brownsville, Texas at 2:00 PM. Dora's burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526, at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
