Charley Williams, Sr. 77, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville.
He was born on January 7, 1932 at Fort Brown and was a native of Brownsville, TX. He was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam War with the US Army and Air Force. He retired from the Gladys Porter Zoo after 35 years of service and commitment as an assistant curator. He was also a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Ofelia Medina Williams, parents; Frank and Andrea Williams, siblings Dora Sosa, Frank Williams Jr. Robert Williams, and David Williams.
He is survived by his children; Elizabeth Armando Leal of Houston, TX, Margaret Mendoza of Brownsville, TX, Charley Elena Williams, Jr., Justino Amy Williams of Houston, TX, Andrea Williams, Joseph E. Maria Elena Williams of Brownsville, TX, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, sisters; Virginia Palafox of El Paso, TX and Clara Zepeda of Harlingen, TX.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2009 at Trevino Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m., October 3, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Cremation will follow.
Pallbearers will be Charley Williams, Jr., Justin Williams, Joseph Williams, Gustavo Leal, Jr., Andy Villarreal, and Frank Sosa.
Military honors are under the direction of the VFW Post 2035
