Carlos Renteria, 63, a life long Brownsville resident, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend, entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2008, after a long illness.
He was born in Brownsville, TX on March 23, 1945 to Ramon and Esperanza Renteria. He graduated from Brownsville High School in 1967. He met Janie in 1970, and married in 1973. The couple moved to Houston where he took a job as a refinery adjuster, later moving back home to Brownsville.
Carlos was a man with a hug heart and a quiet, gentle presence. Full of energy and enthusiasm always a sharp dresser. He was the love of my life, said Juanita, his wife of 35 years, always looking at what he could do or how he could help. A dedicated dad, to his only daughter, Erica, always being the ideal father whom always loved and cherished her more than life itself. The sunshine of my eyes as he often referred to his only granddaughter, Justice N. Vargas and my pride and joy as he often called his only grandson, Seth Marcos Javier Avalos.
Always calm and composed he loved to invite his family and friends for an outdoor grilling to watch the Cowboys play. Happy are those times when everyone gets together, he often said.
He was preceded in death by his parents, who were in his heart always his older brother, Ramon Guadalupe Renteria, who he always looked up to with pride, his sisters, Angelita Nieto, who he depended on for advice and prayer; and his baby sister, Gloria Serrata, who gave him laughter and smiles. He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Blanchard-Renteria, his daughter, Erica L. Marcos Avalos, his beloved sister and mentor, Odelia R. Franco, brothers-in-law, Joseph Franco and Pablo Serrata, grandchildren, Justice and Seth, parents-in-law, Ramon and Esperanza Blanchard, numerous nieces and nephews from near and afar whom were always in his mind.
Id like the memory of me to be a happy one. Id life to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. Id like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways. Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. Id like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun. Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
