Captain Falcon Galvan Rivera, Sr. 87 of Brownsville, Texas entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 16, 2013 and was born on July 3, 1926 in San Fernando, Tamaulipas Mexico. He was married to Maria De La Luz Cortinas Rivera who has preceded him in death as well as his Mother: Generosa G. Rivera, Father: Vicente Rivera, Daughter: Leticia Rivera Strubelt, Son: Juan Antonio Rivera as well as numerous amounts of his siblings.
Captain Rivera became a U.S. Army Corporal in 1944 during World War II, after the war he returned to Brownsville, Texas and was sworn in to the Brownsville Fire Department in 1956 the Central Station downtown. Upon his retirement in 1987 he retired as a Captain and a Criminal Arson Investigator. Captain Rivera was a proud member of the American Legion Post 43 and of the V.F.W. post 2035 of which both will be there to perform his Military Honors and the Last Call will be performed by members of the Brownsville Fire Department Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include the following, Son: Falcon Rivera, Jr., Daughter: Maria Estrella Rivera, Daughter: Lucila R. Gonzalez, and Daughter: Rosalinda Rivera along with his Sisters: Carlota Martinez, Amalia Zepeda, Blanca Martinez, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Monday the 19th of August, 2013 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, there will be a special ceremony beginning 6:00 pm, a Casket Watch followed by a Firemans Prayer 6:45 pm followed by the holy rosary 7:00 pm. On Tuesday, August 20th, 2013 the funeral procession will depart 9:35 am for a 10:00 am mass St. Marys Catholic Church with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
