Blanca Estela Martinez, 68, beloved Sister, was called to her eternal resting place on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
She entered this world on January 28, 1954, in Brownsville, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernardo and Natalia Martinez. She is survived by her brother Jesus Martinez (Beatriz) and loving niece Laura Martinez (Timothy Lopes) and nephews Jesús Jr. Martinez, Roberto Martinez, Ryan Michael Martinez (Mariana), Bernardo Alberto Martinez, grandnephews Andrew Jacob Lopes and Noah James Lopes, and grandniece Andrea Martinez whom she helped raise from birth. Blanca was raised in Brownsville and from an early age worked as a migrant farm worker with her family, traveling throughout the United States. Many of her visitors were often treated to stories of her adventures as a child growing up in the farm fields.
Blanca graduated from Brownsville High School in 1974 then went on to work with various companies, including the Brownsville Herald where she maintained several delivery routes with her father for many years. She also enjoyed working with the Brownsville Credit Union where she made many good friends. Blanca's favorite role, however, was as a second mother to her niece and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A mass will be on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 3 p.m. at San Felipe De Jesus Catholic Church.
Family and friends are invited to view the obituary, sign the guestbook electronically, and leave a condolence message for Blanca’s family at www.trevinofuneral.com.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Treviño Funeral Home and Cremations, 1355 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, Texas 78521 and 956-542-2583.
