Aurora R. Guerrero, 85, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at her residence in Brownsville, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her sons Gumecindo Tillie Guerrero Jr., Elias Hilda Guerrero, Noe Cristina Guerrero, Moises Isabel Guerrero her daughters Carla G. Frank Layton, Tina G. Dickens, Eva G. Pea and Mary M. Guerrero her brother, Hector Martha Ramirez and her stepsons, Albert Paulita Guerrero and Eli Hildegarde Guerrero. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gumecindo Guerrero Sr., her father, Jose Guadalupe Ramirez her mother, Faustina Resendez Ramirez her brothers, Jose Guadalupe Ramirez Jr., Juan Ramirez, Julio Ramirez and Aurorita Guerrero.
Aurora was born in 1928 in Brownsville, Texas, where she attended Brownsville High School. She worked at Vannie Tilden Bakery until she married Gumecindo in 1953. They moved to Corpus Christi and later returned to Brownsville where they raised their children. Aurora was a loving mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and always gave of herself in acts of kindness and endless love. She was a dedicated member of Alpha and Omega Church in Brownsville, Texas. She cherished the Bible and instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of family unity, church, prayer and education. She was blessed with having family and friends who sought her advice and prayer. She was always available to anyone who needed prayer. Her family devotion, service to the church and legacy of prayer will remain with all her children and grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.
Her favorite scripture was Psalm 91 verse 1. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Pallbearers are Gumecindo Guerrero Jr., Elias Guerrero, Noe Guerrero, Moises Guerrero, James Michael Dickens and Moses A. Guerrero. Honorary Pallbearers are Frank Layton, Alberto Guerrero and Eli Guerrero.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 27, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at Trevio Funeral Home South Chapel. Viewing resumes on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a 2p.m. funeral at Alfa Y Omega Asamblea De Dios. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
