Brownsville

Aurora V. de Garcia “Yaya”, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at the age of 87. She was a woman of immense love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her beautiful family and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Born on August 31, 1937 in Mexico, Yaya dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family. She found joy in the simple moments—family gatherings at the ranch, at the beach and at home, full of laughter with her grandchildren, and the love she poured into everyone around her. Her strength and compassion touched all who knew her, and her legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her beloved children, Jacobo J. Garcia and his wife Rosie Serrano; Ludy Garcia and her husband Greg Leveille; her precious grandchildren, Javier and Diego Alvarez, and Jacobo Sebastian Garcia; and her siblings, Oscar Villarreal, Sonia Rodriguez, Mari Salinas, Teno (Jr.) Villarreal, Irma Villarreal, and Jorge Villarreal, who will forever carry forward the values she instilled in them. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her love continues to shine through those who were blessed to know her.

Yaya’s legacy will be honored during a series of services held at Trevino Funeral Home – Old Port Isabel Rd. in Brownsville, Texas. There will be a visitation on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm. There will be a Mass on Friday, May 2, 2025, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church at 10:00am. Services will conclude after the Mass.

May eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May she rest in peace. Amen.
