Andres "Andy" Hinojosa Jr passed away on April 8, 2025, in San Antonio, TX. He was 69 years old. He was born July 5, 1955, in Brownsville, TX to Andres C. Hinojosa and Maria Francisca Acosta Hinojosa.
He attended Brownsville High School but later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1973. In 1975, he graduated from Matthew C. Perry High School in Iwakuni, Japan. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and became an instructor at the naval base in Millington, Tennessee. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1977, he attended Texas Southmost College in Brownsville, where he received an associate degree. He later attended the University of Texas and transferred to Texas A & I University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1985. He worked at Kelly AFB until it closed and retired as an energy manager from Lackland AFB in San Antonio in 2018.
He came to know the Lord and was an active member of Castle Hills Pentecostal Church in San Antonio. He won many to the Lord by teaching home Bible studies. He touched many lives, telling people about salvation. One of his favorite Bible verses was Acts 2:38. He was a prayer warrior and spent his last years dedicated to serving the Lord and never stopped praying.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Andres C. and Maria Francisca Hinojosa. His brothers: Nicolas and Roberto Hinojosa, and his sister: Norma Linda Champion.
Andy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christine; two sons: Andy R. and Ariel Nathaniel Hinojosa and one daughter: Jessie Merie Hernandez (Vincent); three grandchildren: Andy Ryan Hinojosa, Ciara Nicole and Addyson Breanne; and two great grandchildren: Aleia and Genesis; one sister: Alma Gloria Buitron (Dionicio) and two brothers: Genaro Hinojosa (Gina) and Ricardo Hinojosa. He also leaves behind his faithful German Shepherds: Gunny and Mandy, who loved him.
Pallbearers will be Ariel Nathaniel Hinojosa, Andy Ryan Hinojosa, Vincent Hernandez, Theodore Kailimai, Adrian Buitron, and Michael Ramirez.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Bandera Funeral Home in Bandera, TX. Visitation begins at 10:00. The service is from 11:00 to 12:00. Burial will follow with a procession leaving the funeral home at 12:15 to Fort Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
