Adelina Titer Garcia, 54, our beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Valley Regional Hospital after a 22 month battle with Lung Cancer.
Adelina, was born in Falfurrias, Texas and lived in Brownsville all her life. A graduate of Pace High School Class of 1978 and a graduate of University of Pan American at Brownsville in 1983. Adelina began her teaching career with Brownsville Independent School District at El Jardin Elementary where she remained her entire 29 12 year teaching career. During this time Adelina obtained her Master Degree in Education, but chose to remain in the classroom which was her true love. Her greatest joy was having the children of students she had early in her career. One of her greatest accomplishments she was most proud of was being named the Brownsville Herald Teacher of the Year in 2002.
Adelina was a devout Catholic and has been a member of St. Marys Catholic Church since the churchs groundbreaking along with her parents. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Bishop Adolph Marx Chapter and a proud member of Area Organization of Brownsville Educators AOBE, Texas State Teachers Association and National Teachers Association. She loved defending teachers and their rights as educators.
Adelina was preceded in death by her parents Matias D. and Jovita P. Garcia, her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Left behind to cherish her eternal legacy her husband Frank D. Garcia, her brothers Dr. Alvaro Buddy Patti Garcia, Arnoldo Nono Sofia Garcia and Alberto R. Garcia her nephews Matias D. Garcia, Evan A. Garcia, Arnoldo Rolando Garcia and Albert R. Garcia Jr., her niece Arianna Rebecca Garcia and niece and goddaughter Natalie Anahi Garcia. Adelina will also be missed by her uncle Alex F. Edna Perez and aunts Elda P. Noe Flores and Maria Gloria Alfonso Ramirez and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
VISITATION:3pm9pm Tues.,Oct.8,2013 Trevino Funeral Home North Chapel
ROSARY: 7pm in North Chapel FUNERAL MASS: 10 am Wed. Oct.9, 2013 St.Marys Catholic Church. Services will conclude after mass. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
